KNOXVILLE – A surprise to few amid growing discontent, Mike Hamilton’s departure as University of Tennessee athletic director was announced this morning at 11 in a press conference at Teneessee’s Stokely Family Media Center in Neyland Stadium.
“I have been on an interesting journey both personally and professionally,” Hamilton said, bringing up his visit to Africa.
“I have faced challenges and frustrations in the last 18 months,” he said. “I accept responsibility. In a way this (his resignation) was inevitable.”
